My name is Suzanne, a NEWLY RETIRED school secretary, and a passionate “soaper”.
I live in the little town of Umatilla, Florida, just south of the Ocala Forest.
Tall Pines Soapary is named after our little woods next to our house and came to be after learning how to make soap at the young age of 65! Yes, I’m a late bloomer, but I had been pondering the project for many years, I just never made the time to learn how. I started crafting when I was about eight years old when my aunt put a pair of knitting needles in my hands. I have always been interested in handmade crafts – spinning wool and weaving, cross stitching and embroidery, quilting, and primitive rug hooking. Then, it was finally soap’s turn! I started reading the ingredients in my shower body wash (you notice they don't call it "SOAP") that claimed it would moisturize my skin and keep it that way for 24 hours (no!), made with ingredients I can’t even pronounce. My still-dry skin finally convinced me it was time to try making my own soap, so I would know what is in it. After several months of reading……and reading……and more reading, I found someone that would show me how it's done.
Soapmaking is one of my passions, and has evolved over the past few years, from plain unscented beige bars, to what I consider little works of art. I strive to make great lathering soap that will spark your senses with color, fragrance and ingredients you can pronounce, while making it pretty and fun at the same time. I love making soap, and I hope you’ll love the soap I make.
Many of my soaps are scented with essential and/or fragrance oils, some are unscented. Each are labeled accordingly in the Gallery/Lookbook. Each bar may contain some or all of the following: water, buttermilk, goat milk, coconut milk, olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, castor oil, high oleic sunflower oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, beeswax, honey, and micas and oxides for color.
All soaps are made in small batches, and are just good simple (or frilly!) soap made with love! I do take special orders and I ship for the cost of shipping and packaging. All special orders must be made at least 3 months in advance, as all of my soap is cured for at least six weeks. Special orders require a deposit and must be paid for in advance of delivery.
Soap is a wash-off product and meant for external use only. Soap will last longer if drained well and dried out between uses.
